The Winner of My First Giveaway is...

So, I used the random number generator to determine which follower would win a custom set of my bright stripes word wall cards. I tried to take a screen shot of the results and couldn't figure it out! So if anyone knows how to do that, let me know!

Anywho, the winner of my first giveaway is follower number 5, Lori Rosenberg from Teaching with Love and Laughter . Congratulations!
Holy Moley! I can check more projects off my to do list! Pretty soon I'm going to have to make a new list. What are some of the summer projects your working on?

These projects I found on pinterest. If you were the originator of these ideas, let me know and I will give you credit! :)

This first project is called Warm and Fuzzies. Loving the name! Just saying warm and fuzzies makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside!
I'm going to use this as a whole class reward. Once the jar is filled the class will get a prize. Maybe a party, ice cream, free choice, etc.

My second project was a pinterest/old lady inspiration. On pinterest it is called Shake It Up. I called it Shake and Find.
I bought the plastic jar at Wal-Mart for $1.79 and the pom poms at Hobby Lobby. Then I made word lists for the first, second, and third HFWs, and a student fill in the blanks sheet. It's pretty simple but gets the job done!

I am going to put 20 words in the jar at a time. It will take the littles some time to find all 20 words. As they find the words, they will write down the word on their paper. This will be a Working with Words activity that will always be a choice for the students when they pick that Daily 5 choice.

You can get a copy of the word lists and student sheets here as a FREEBIE!

Leave me a comment about what you think about my new freebie and what some of your summer projects are!!!

P.S. The giveaway winner will be chosen tonight around 7pm!!!

The More Followers the Merrier!!

Now that I have 5 new followers the contest is now open and I will pick a winner for the Bright Stripes Customized Word Wall Word Cards Friday!

You still have a chance to win! Just become a follower and leave a comment. You could even add me to your favorites on your blog. I wouldn't mind that at all!!! ;)

Good Luck!

Bright Stripes Word Wall Cards

While the Mr. was at work yesterday, I created word wall cards for the first 100 HFWs. They look just beautiful if I may add. I can't wait to use them in my room this coming school year! If you already have word wall cards you can also use these in centers.

Check them out at my TpT store to get your set of cards!

As a gift, I also included the color words and number words 1-20. Within, the next week, I will also be creating cards for the 2nd and 3rd hundred HFWs.

If your spelling words are anything like the ones that we use at my school, they do not follow any word lists out there. So I had to create a special set that matches our school's spelling list.

WAIT, I just thought of an idea!

After I get five new followers, I will create a CUSTOMIZED set of word wall cards in the Bright Stripes theme for one of my newest followers! Yep, that's right, a CUSTOMIZED set JUST FOR YOU! Oh, you must leave me a comment too!

P.S. I am also going to be working on Daily 5 Anchor Charts and labels for the classroom in the Bright Stripes theme! Eeeek! That way everything will match in your classrom, if you decide to use that theme!

Happy Summer Break Everyone!

Yay for Summer Projects!

I have been working on many projects the last couple of weeks and the one I am most proud about is the Daily 5 Check for Understanding check marks. I did however have some assistance from my Mr..

I got this inspiration straight out of the Daily 5 book by the "Sisters". I can not express enough how easy of a read it is! If you haven't already it is def. a must read!

The Mr. and I were driving around town one day and I asked him if he could make me some wooden check marks for school, and he said yes without any hesitation. I was VERY surprised that he said yes and drove right to the store to pick up the wood! Another SURPRISE is that is was only $10 for this hugefied (spelling?) slab of wood and we didn't even use half of it!!!

Sorry I don't have any pictures of him cutting the check marks out.

Anywho, then my old lady (my teacher friend from school...and yes, she knows I call her that :). She's not really old, just older than me) came over and we painted 52 check marks total!!

And finally today I added the finishing touches!!!

Loving all the colors!

I just painted 2 coats of acrylic paint on each check mark and used a paint pen to write the wording.

The check marks are placed upside down in a large tin bucket and I am going to add a label later.

Yippy Skippy! My first summer project is finished!!!

P.S. If I get enough requests I will post the template for the check mark as a freebie!!!

It's Time to Start Bloggin'

As I begin my career teaching first grade, I thought this would be the perfect time to start my own blog and create some of my own products.  I have been debating blogging since October 2011 when I first found stubbled upon this aMaZiNg world of teacher blogs and TpT!!!

Now that I am preparing for my OWN classroom next school year (after 2  l-o-n-g years of tutoring and long-term subbing in 2nd grade), I wanted to also start this experience.

I would like to dedicate my first post to all the amazing girls in the blogger world that have insipired me to become a better teacher and join the blogger/TpT world. Just to name a few:

Cara Carroll from The First Grade Parade
Erica Bohrer from Erica Bohrer's First Grade
Kylie from Down Under Teacher
Amy Lemons from Step into Second Grade
Babbling Abby from The inspired Apple
Hope King from Shenanigan's in Second
Amanda Nickerson from One Extra Degree

I have taken used many of their ideas to help start my own classroom. I will be posting all of my summer projects. Many of the ideas came from these lovely ladies. If I forget who inspired me to do the project, let me know and I will give you credit for it!

Happy Teaching Everyone!!! Let the Summer Projects begin!
